This mosaic piece was part of a commission that I did about 10 years ago for a temple as part of their restoration project. It is one of three spheres that are exchanged occasionally. They are located on top of the arche which is above the Torah. It was a wonderful project that I had the honor of working on. People in their congregation donated family treasures for me to use as part of the mosaic piece. I surrounded those items with semi-precious stones, geodes, crystal points, then created a hammered copper collar for the sphere to sit on. It was a project that was amazing to work on.
The pieces of jewelry…… watches, wedding bands, pins, mementos, metals, cuff links, even dog tags…..were given with such love; each piece holding decades of special memories for the families. I was deeply touched and affected by the stories that were shared. Each item was filled with the energy of the ancestor who once wore the item. I was lead…sometimes emotionaly….to place a piece in a certain spot; not knowing why one item had to be near another item…. only later learning that they were related to each other. I was invited to be part of a ceremony during one of the congregations religious holidays and was delighted to see the response from everyone. They freely shared their delight and told me of the coincidences of the alignment of some of the pieces. It was an amazing experience… like no other…..and I feel blessed to have been part of it.
“When two or more people coordinate in a spirit of harmony and work towards a definite objective or purpose, they place themselves in position, through alliance, to absorb power directly from the great storehouse of Infinite Intelligence.”

If you can Dream It……you can Do It. This is what I’ve learned and what I continue to learn from my business coach Christine Kane and my creative business mentor Kelly Rae Roberts. They teach the technical skills necessary for building a business that is an extension of the life that you live….not a forced, stuffy, boring life; but an adventurous, fun, creative one.
To get started you must first decide what it is that you want. Not always easy. You need to get your mindset…and be determined to go for it…no matter what gets in your way.
Do you ever feel like you’re whirling around in a crazy spiral that is spinning so fast that you can’t even speak with the correct words in a sentence! Oh yeah, we can all relate. Sometimes you just need to plop yourself down in a chair and chill out….take a bunch of deep breaths….and calm down. Be mindful of what your intentions are and start to create the life you want. Leave the chaos behind and think about the future….
We are, after all, artists of our own destiny. (Mark Larson)
“Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it. Boldness has a genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now” J.W. Goethe
Here’s another journal page that was a turning point for me. It made me realize how important it is to begin to “Follow your Bliss”. We must decide exactly what it is that we want and then begin to do it….it doesn’t have to be perfect. Just start!
“Follow your bliss. If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be. If you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that wouldn’t have opened for anyone else.” Joseph Campbell
Today was a “Studio Day”. I had the whole afternoon to spend there; which is a treat this time of year. Getting the garden work done has been my first priority the last couple of weeks and with that completed I can now concentrate on my Arty stuff.
I’ve got an order for a pair of wire-worked earrings. They need a bit more work….gemstones added.
I picked up my sculpture from the Gallery. The “4th floor Artists “ had an exhibit there for the month of May. She will stay in the studio for a while for a well deserved rest.
I will be putting in a painting for this next show which starts tomorrow. It is my “Emerge” which is acrylic mixed media. She looks great hanging on the gallery wall….(thanks Pat).
I will also be setting up a jewelry case in a corner of the Gallery. I’ll need to focus to get it done in time for the 6:00 Opening Reception…….wish me luck!
“Creativity is not a pastime. It’s an essential part of who we are, finding countless expressions in our life each day.”
— Tyler Enfield,
This morning the garden called. The light was slanting just so. The buds on the flowers where ready to explode into color and the birds were chirping loudly. A beautiful day was about to begin. I hadn’t finished my garden chores the day before so I was heading out to put in the last of the veggies and do a bit of deadheading on the blooms that have been giving us days of pleasure. It was quiet and calm. Just right for slow, mindful gardening.

This is the time of the year when the ocean calls…..the salty air and the warm sun is a perfect setting for a day of Fun Art, Relaxation, and quiet thoughts.
You must find just the right spot to lay out all your gear.
Now to unpack all the essentials…art supplies…fresh picked raspberries…
Mmmmmmmm… this is the life!
Today is the day that I am putting my plan in motion. My goal for 2010 was to Begin create an online presence and to uplevel my creative business. I am now ready to do just that. I have been studying the Uplevel your Business e-course with Christine Kane and am currently enrolled in Kelly Rae Roberts Flying Lessons e-course. They have given me the know-how to get this blog started and begin my online journey.
I am takeing action…..imperfect action….and that’s okay.
Last year I had to move my studio from a place I had become very “comfortable” with. Having to find a new space was huge at the time…….but in hindsight it was just what I needed. I am now in a great old building filled with many other artists and have made some wonderful new friends. Being around all that creative energy has allowed my own creative juices to explode. I am now accountable to others and I want to try new things and push myself a bit more. It has been a great Beginning.
I have lots of ideas that I will be exploring in the next few months. I welcome you to explore with me and together we will become Bigger.
I have EMERGED……….that is my word of the year for 2010….and I have had a great year so far doing just that! I picked this word to create an intention for myself to get my Art out into the world and to let others see who I really am. I had been letting small pieces of myself out…you know, the easy to do stuff. I’ve had no problem making jewelry and knitwear to sell; or teaching classes and doing some workshops out and about. That is something that I have been doing for many years now. BUT…I wasn’t really sharing my passion for painting until I picked my word of the year. ..EMERGE. I have now created a few new paintings and have mustered up the courage to show them in a couple of shows. I have also started this blog and joined the many who have an online presence. It was a lot scarier in my mind than in reality… I must admit.
I’m inviting you to join me on my Journey. Join me on my path of Emerging. Join me in celebrating my Creative Courage. Together we can leap upwards towards our Big Dreams.
